The Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team provides personalised support for individuals, families, and communities to promote healing, resilience, and overall wellbeing.

Our team delivers culturally safe, confidential, and holistic care that respects the unique needs, experiences, and strengths of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We understand that wellbeing is influenced by many aspects of life, and we work alongside you to provide support that nurtures connection, healing, and positive outcomes. Where possible, Indigenous workers are available to walk alongside you and provide support throughout your journey.

Culture Care Connect

Culture Care Connect (CCC) is here to hold Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through tough times and support mob to
stay strong and connected. This program has been designed to walk alongside individuals, families, and groups who may be going through emotional and
spiritual distress, big life challenges and changes, or sorry business offering support that is caring, grounded in culture and led by community. We believe in your strength, resilience, and the power of culture to heal and protect. You are at the centre of our approach.

How we walk with you:

– Keeping Our Mob Safe and Strong: Supporting wellbeing and connection through culture, community and care.

– Healing Support: Providing emotional, cultural and practical support.

– Self-Determined Journeys: Designing your own cultural plan for your healing and wellbeing.

Community and Family Support

The Community and Family Support (CAFS) program helps families early before challenges turn into crisis. Our program is funded by Department of Communities and Justice to walk alongside Aboriginal individuals and families.

We support families by:

– Providing culturally safe, strength-based support

– Helping families build safety, stability and strong relationships

– Supporting parents and children together

– Connecting families to housing, health, legal, financial or cultural
supports

– Working at your pace focusing on what matters to you

The service is for Aboriginal adults, parents and families who are feeling overwhelmed, unsafe or under pressure, and who want support early, not just in a crisis.

Building Aboriginal Community Resilience

The Building Aboriginal Community Resilience (BACR) program provides mindful support services help clients pause, reflect and stay grounded during challenging moments.

We provide cultural support that honours your identity, community connections, and the strength of your story. Our mindful support services help you pause, reflect, and stay grounded during challenging moments. Everything you share with us is treated with complete confidentiality, giving you a safe and private space to open up. Whether you’re going through a tough time or simply need someone to talk to, we’re here to walk alongside you with care, respect, and understanding.

Elder Care Support

The Elder Care Support (ECS) team helps clients find the right care in a way that is clear, respectful and connected to culture. We support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 and over to access services.

What we offer:
– Understanding what aged care services are available.
– Filling out forms and applying for services.
– Making sure the care is culturally safe and feels right for you.
– Supporting families and carers.
– Social outings and activities that create opportunities to connect with others, build relationships and strengthen community ties.

Tackling Indigenous Smoking

Our Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) program educates and supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to prevent smoking and vaping, helping people quit, and promoting healthy, smoke-free lifestyles.

The team works across the Far South Coast community to support healthier, smoke-free decisions. They share information about smoking, vaping and health through yarning, education sessions and community engagement.

The team supports local events, health days and activities that promote strong, positive choices. They can also help workplaces, homes and community spaces become smoke-free. In addition, the team works with young people through school programs to build knowledge and confidence to stay smoke-free.

What we offer:

– Access to free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), including patches, gum, lozenges and more.
– Access to a personal quit plan tailored to your goals and needs.
– Ongoing support, encouragement and regular check-ins throughout your quit journey.

Alcohol and Other Drugs

The Stay Strong Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) team can provide support and treatment options for community members facing substance abuse and/or families impacted by those who use substances.

We provide culturally appropriate care and maintain discretion for anyone accessing these services. Indigenous workers are available to offer support, guidance and encouragement throughout your healing journey.

What we offer:

– Brief intervention and early support
– Detox and rehabilitation referrals, including transport assistance
– Court diversion support
– Advocacy and practical assistance
– Family support services
– Group therapy programs
– Working Development Orders (WDO)
– School and community education programs
– Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) support and information
